Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture ( Mayor Yasuhiro Okada ) will hold Bonbori (paper lantern) lighting, a springtime tradition in Kakogawa City, this year again at Hikayama Park, one of the most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in Higashi-Harima, which attracts many visitors every year.
During the period of March 22 (Sat.) ~ May 6 (Tue.) ・ (national holiday), about 300 Bonbori will be lit up, enveloping about 1,000 Someiyoshino cherry trees in a fantastic atmosphere. Especially at the cherry blossom tunnel located on the main street in the park, you can enjoy the nighttime cherry blossoms with soft lights. Please come and experience the cherry blossoms of Kakogawa.
[About Hikayama Park]
Known as one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in East Harima, this is the largest comprehensive park in Kakogawa City.
The park has a variety of sports facilities and playground equipment, including a new sports zone that opened on April 1 ( Tuesday ) for skateboarding and three-person basketball. On a fine day, you can see the city of Kakogawa and the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge from the observatory, which attracts a large number of visitors. During the cherry blossom season, about 1,000 Someiyoshino cherry trees are in full bloom in the park, and the main street where a tunnel of cherry blossoms appears is popular as a nighttime cherry blossom viewing spot.
